Hi all,
Well, I was exploring the list of audio books on the project gutenberg website. There are 2 types of audio books, human-read, and computer generated. There are more computer generated books than there are human read ones. The thing that really shocked me, is that eloquence is the computer generated reader on the ones that are computer generated. I was curious, so I downloaded the first 2 chapters of Oliver Twist, and there came eloquence. I don't mind eloquence too much for short reading, like in a chat room to see who's in a room, or to navigate the screen for a few minutes at a time, but I don't care for it when it comes to long periods of reading. I just don't like those highs and lows. There were only a very few human read books. I started reading Dracula by Bram Stoker, because someone told me Dracula was really kind starting out, the way Frankenstein was, but he was just cursed by being a vampire. Hmmm, I'm up to page 34, and so far, he seems as evil as he ever was in the movies.

So, I tried it and wasn't sure how it works, so do you sign up for that site?
Can you give me the site url again?

To simplify your search process, because there are so many links on the page, I suggest clicking on "advanced search," and going from there.
I've not listened to Gutenberg's audio files, I prefer text, because I like to have the BookPort read to me, I love the portability of it. I find I am impatient with audio books which I can't speed up! LOL
Anyway, I've actually recently read Dracula! IMO, this man was never really a sympathetic character. That horrible ship description was the most vivid bit of the book, and the only thing that made me feel anything about what I was reading.
IFor me, Dracula was tedious to get through. But I really liked Elaine Bergstrom's sequels,, Mina, and there's another which follows Mina, called "Blood to Blood." I've scanned these, and plan to submit to Bookshare. If anyone has interest, you can write to me privately, as well.
